3 Ideas for my FMP
As our Final major project is fast
approaching I am starting to come up with ideas. As I would like to go in to the Medical
Photography direction I feel I should be bulking out my portfolio with these
types of images.
1 - MEDICAL PHOTOGRAPHY VS EVERY DAY
PHOTOGRAPHY.
Why we need the qualifications and
professionalism they use in the hospital.
Rather than using the patients own images. The ethics behind legal
photography.
2 HOSPITAL LEAFLET. –
Another idea was to produce a hospital
leaflet with a range of images the clinical photography team do on a daily
basis. Like the grounds of the hospital,
some arty images of equipment’s like scalpels scissors? And some studio images.
3 CLOSE CROP ABSTRACT BODY PARTS –
I am also going to research in to the
evolution of medical photography. Looking at the work of John Coplan. I think the idea of body parts in close crops
is very interesting as it turns to a surreal image that isn’t easily recognised
or identified.
Hopefully I will be back in the hospital in a few weeks for more ideas and help.

Its a great idea to create a series that links into the career area you want to go into. I like idea 1 and 3. I think it will be interesting to see the difference between a professional medical photograph and an everyday image. I really like idea 3 as it will be interesting to see the close up surreal shots.
ReplyDeleteI think idea 1 is the one to go for. Having recently been in hospital with my daughter you could also do a shoot focusing on whats go on behind the scenes on the children's department. We had a visit from a magician and were painting pottery in the hospital bed and these times made our time in hospital easier. Find a narrative and good luck.
ReplyDeleteI think the 3rd idea of close-up body parts could produce some really creative, abstract images that would work well in an exhibition space.
ReplyDeletei have to agree with Erica, considering the legality of idea 1 and timescale and the leaflet is not really suitable for an exhibtion although good practice. Abstract, fine detail body parts would work great but as Maria said you need narrative and context. what about just looking at hands from varied ages, showing the aging process
